One of the biggest concerns in this “Web 2.51″ world is SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and for good reason. Your online identity needs to be easily accessible and prevalent across a wide range of categoriesĀ for your business to thrive. A simple search of “SEO Salary” brings up an article that outlines the ranges of pay for someone who’s sole job is SEO optimization. The salary could range from $35,000 for simply building links between sites and up to $350,000 for a “Director of Search Marketing”. Obviously, the market feels the position is needed and worth a substantial income.
But with all the importance SEO carries, it seems that people putĀ more credence in link exchanges and keywords and they never mention the most important aspect: quality. There is a music group, Justice, who has managed to rank #1, 2, and 3 in the google search for “Justice”. A common word which is rather popular during this election season, and they have managed to stay on top of that search.
The amazing thing about Justice is that the only page they have is a myspace page, and everything else is user-generated buzz. While I am sure that their myspace page is optimized for searches, most of their SEO success comes from people talking about them, which would only happen if there was quality in their music.
So while proper SEO is an important aspect to any online identity, a quality product is a necessity to succeed in the digital world.
