Programming for kids.

Programming for kids.

This looks like an awesome concept. Learning how to program is like learning any other language, and the earlier a child can start learning a language, the easier it is. If this takes off, I could see it being used in schools, where kids can build interactive projects to turn in. It could help reinforce teamwork and build communication skills.

How do you make programming fun? How do you make it fun enough for kids to want to spend hours learning how to make loops and if/then statements? Simple you give them simple visual commands that let them control robots on the Xbox — or at least this is the thesis of Microsoft Research’s Kodu (formerly Boku). Via – O’Reilly

If you haven’t been to Cake Wrecks yet, you need to go there now. Subscribe to their RSS feed, and whenever you are feeling down give them a read. You can’t help but smile at some of these atrocities.

Must See Links – Vol 7
