I saw this license plate the other day in the parking lot of the Hyde Park Kroger. While it is kinda ballsy to be that brazen in the midwest, is it really any different than someone putting a “Jesus fish” on their car?

For some reason, I tend to put way too much stress on myself. A good majority of these stressors are really insignificant, and I have no idea why I let myself get so worked up. For example, I had no down-time at work today and didn’t get to dit down at my computer until now (11:45pm). I opened up my RSS Reader, and this is what I saw:

I know it if silly, but having that many feed items to go through got me frazzled for a second. I had to take a deep breath and realize that not only did I know what priority these feeds had for me, but I can just mark things as read and go back to them later.

Self Created Stress

This is what my “happy face” looks like:

my happy face

And this is why I was so happy:

the reason I was happy

I was sitting inside this Saturday, trying to watch some CSI and Sara told me before I got too in to the show I needed to move a mini-fridge out of my car. So I begrudgingly threw on a sweatshirt and some shoes. When I went outside, I saw that someone had parked a Mini Cooper in front of our house, and thought nothing of it. I mean, I have seen Minis parked around our house before. Something like that isn’t out of place in Hyde Park.

For some reason, I turned around to look at Sara, since she had come out of the house after me. She was standing there with a camera, and I realized that the Mini in front of our house wasn’t someone else’s… it was mine! Cue happy face.

I am really proud of Sara, since something usually goes wrong when she tries to surprise me. Either she slips and gives me a blatant clue or I find out by accident. This was the first time she tried to surprise me and I didn’t see it coming. I also want to thank Jay Sofranec at Cincinnati Mini. He really went above and beyond, coming to pick us up in the car so we could go and sign all the necessary paper work. If you are in the market for a Mini, make sure to give him a call. He will treat you right.

Now I need to figure out what obnoxious vanity plate I am going to put on my car…

This is my happy face

If your head hasn’t been under a proverbial rock, you have heard Cincinnati residents talking about the OTRTweetup that is happening this Thursday, November 20th. However, for those of you that like to keep your head under some nice terra firma, here are the details: (taken from Kate’s Random Musings)

Are you on Twitter?

Would you like to meet your local Twitter friends?

Come to Greater Cincinnati’s first tweet-up at Over-the-Rhine’s Below Zero Lounge at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 20.

It’s a great way for you to put a face to a name, and talk to your Tweeple/Twitterites/Twitterverse in more than 140 characters.

No need to come looking like your avatar…

So show up, meet the cool Twitterati from Cincinnati, and have a few drinks. Please make sure to leave a comment on Kate’s blog so she can have a rough head count.

OTR Tweetup – Join the Cool Kids

These links, while all really interesting, don’t lend themselves to a full post. Since I have tons of these that I save, all in hopes of being smacked by a muse to write about, I figured I would start a collection of links that I think people should see.

Well, it’s hard to teach wit – but all of us can learn the next best thing: the approximation of it by obfuscation, i.e. using big, difficult, and obscure words. So, to do our part in improving the quality of insults on teh Interweb, Neatorama has come up with a list of 10 Insulting Words You Should Know:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadavre_exquis

Exquisite corpse (also known as “exquisite cadaver” or “rotating corpse”) is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled, the result being known as the exquisite corpse or cadavre exquis in French. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule (e.g. “The adjective noun adverb verb the adjective noun“) or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.

This cake is made from 100% awesome. It’s the Muppet Show Cake. Created for the 2007 Kentucky State Fair (where it won the Blue Ribbon), it’s got all the usual suspects from The Muppet Show. The detail is amazing! One of the best cakes I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if I could bring myself to eat Beaker though!

What’s more intimate than walking on the beach at sunset? Walking on the beach at sunset while listening to the sweet serenade of a wave-powered organ of course! and if you ever find yourself in San Francisco, Blackpool, or Zadar, I suggest you make a date to visit the local sea organ.

Well, that is it for now. Look for more links to come in the future.

Geeking Out

I recently came across a prototype of a video game that uses the exterior views of the passenger as the land bounderies for a flying ship. There have been many times as a child that I thought it would be fun to integrate the things I was seeing in with a video game I was playing.

The only thing I wonder is how this would be legal. I know most areas have specific laws governing the amount of visual interference the driver can have on the side windows.

Dynamic Video Game

As you may know, I am a huge fan of electro-house music, mainly with Justice and Daft Punk. I try every now and then to make my own music, and most of it is done through my MacBook Pro. These midi controllers by Korg would be really helpful, especially if I want to ever perform this music live.

This Helvetica based Monopoly board by Florent Guerlain is a wonderful way to organize and present information.  I would love to see more classic games reimagined this way:

I came across this video over on College Humor. This is a really interesting concept, using alliteration to come up with lyrics in alphabetical order.
