Tried of hauling around pilots in block of carbonite for some large slug thing? Need some fresh gear to rock while circling the Sarlacc pits?

Check out this sweatshirt from Marc Ecko. While I may find the guy a pretensious ass, he makes some awesome clothing.

Sometimes, you just have to sit back and let something stupid make you smile. Transformers spinning Daft Punk is one of those “somethings”.

Guilty Pleasures

I came across this post from Unplggd.com, covering a “steampunk” cell phone, which used binary punch-cards to dial out. Just look, it is beautiful.

When I first started learning how to use After Effects, I immediately thought of finding new ways to get visual and audio cues to interact. I am a firm believer that the more sense we can get to concentrate on the same stimulus, the greater the reaction will be.

This video for the Chemical Brothers does just that. Pay attention to the repetition of elements and how they tie in seamlessly with the audio.

Inducing Synaesthesia

The great thing about sites like Amazon.com is that I can pre-order something, and have it be a little surprize waiting for me when I get home some day. That is the case with the book ABC3D that I received a few days ago.

This is a really fun book. There are really interesting ways that Marion Bataille, the author, chose to represent the alphabet in pop-up form. I got really excited by some of these letterforms, and you can see why here:

On a side note, there was another video dealing with giving letterforms a three-dimensional shape:

There is just something beautiful about typography, don’t you think?

As a side note, here is one of my first motion assignments, where I had to find a way to transition between a number and a letter.

The news media needs to be held accountable for the things they air. I am tired of turning on a 24/7 “news” station and seeing a teaser for “How to Dress like Sarah Palin” or anything resembling a Hollywood tabloid. If a channel wants to present themselves as a news station, they should be required to announce when they are editorializing a story. During this election season, the news shows seem to be dealing less in fact than the entertainment shows, and sadly, a good percent of the American population does not care enough to remove the facts from the fiction.

Short and sweet, but it is three weeks running.
